Five days ago we arrived to Bangkok, and as the trains to Chiang Mai are fully booked, we may even be here for some more days…
Oct. 17th we went to superlative temple Wat Po, the biggest temple in Bangkok, with the biggest lying Buddha (15 m heigth, 45 m in length), the biggest collection of Buddha statues and the earliest center of publiv education in Thailand.
A possibility for Nicola would have been to participate at a ten day massage courst at the temoles massagebschool, but we did not want to stay in Bkk for that long…
Thai people have position of the Buddha for each day of the week, is that a Thailand speciay?
Left side it is the sunday one, following through the right is the whole week, ending with the saturday Buddha at the right side. Depending on your birthWeekday, this one Buddha is going to be special for you. So some Thai people are quite quick in finding out which weekday one was born, knowing the birth date.
Thais don´t go to the temple only on sundays, but wgenever they have a need or a plae. Maybe that is why Thai woman always have their shoulders covered- showing shoulders you should not enter a temple. At the temple they offer incense, money, lotos flower buds, candles and thin gold leaves to Buddha. The gold leaves are sticked onto the statues, somtetimes thick layers coveribg them until nearely unrecognisable.
The lotosbuds sometimes are recicled, taken out of the vases in front of Buddha where people put them, and being sold to the next coming people.

Here the king is nearly as holy as Buddha. Around the whole city, there is over dimensioned pictures of him, and in nearely every home there is pictuees of the king. Usually he is shown as a joung man, with glasses. Some days ano we spotted a more fecent picture of his majesty and his wife, and we were a little shocked: the souvereign couple has got grey hair, they are at least sixty or seventy years old, their children, in the pictures sees as babies must be adults by now.
At noon Stefan went back home to work, Nicola went shopping to Siam, the luxourious shopping district. There she discovered the Siam Paragon Ocean World, a fantastic aquarium. There we went together the next day.
Fore those who want, Bangkok has big loxury to offer. The quality is the same as in the west, but it dies cost much less. The Ocean world is about 10 Euro, a ticket for 3 D inl. Popcorn, or special first class cinema about 8€, normal cinema about 3 €. We enjoyed.
